This trip takes you to every place in the country that is a must-see and must-visit. The entire sightseeing covers a total of three hundred kilometres that loops from a city of Reykjavik into central Iceland. Experienced guides accompany you during the trip ad and prepare yourself to extra stops. A trip to all the world-renowned falls and the geothermal area beside the caldera is sure to boggle your mind. Here are few of the trip highlights.
National Park of Thingvellir
The National Park of Thingvellir is the first stop. It is considered a geological wonder site that is located at Eurasian and North American Plates. However, this is a historical place where you are likely to find the site of the first Parliament in the world. This is usually the first stop for Grand Golden Circle Tour. This place shares stories about political and geographical struggles, ongoing evolution and compromises. Thingvellir got accepted on UNESCO's heritage list of the world for the cultural values in the year 2004.
Geysir
The second stop for this trip includes Geysir. In front of your own eyes, you can see the geysers erupting. This Geysir stopped its eruptions in the early 2000s but the baby brother of this tends to go off every now and then, it is the Strokkur. This geothermal area is the stopover after Thingvellir in the Grand Golden Circle Tour. Here we will have lunch stop too.
Gullfoss
Third stop for this trip is the most beautiful Gullfoss waterfall that drops twenty-one meters and eleven meters, in dual stages into a big crevice. The scene appears as if the water completely disappears inside the Earth. This falls can be enjoyed from multiple scenic points that provide for ample photo clicking opportunities and the waterfall's distinct view.
Faxi
Right after Gullfoss, the fourth stop is Vatnsleysufoss or Faxi that enjoys a location on Tungufljot while plunging down over almost seven meters. It is quite impressive as a location. The waterfall's height is eighty meters wide almost. This waterfall's water is full of salmon fish and has been named after farm Vatnsleysa that means "water shortage".
Kerid
The fifth stop of the trip right after the waterfall of Faxi. It is a crater that is a volcanic lake that enjoys a location in the area of Grimsnes in southern Iceland. This particular lake is popular mainly because of the location as the Langjokull glacier is connected with the Peninsula of Reykjanes. Thus, the kid got created with moving of land over localized hotspots, but it is also known to be one of the calderas that, is visually recognizable. This caldera, just like other volcanic rocks in this area is composed of black and red volcanic rock. The most notable things about this location are that it is more than six thousand five hundred years old.
